None of the lenders listed here charge an upfront "application" fee when you request a loan. There are some companies out there who will require you to pay a percentage of the loan amount upfront just to underwrite your loan. Some are legit but there are a lot of scammers doing this so be very careful. Upfront fees are more common when applying for a business loan. Most real estate loans are based on equity so the underwriting process is completely different.
